The Eclipse Cycle

Transmissions

Readings, rules, and dispatches from inside the Eclipse Cycle.

Terminus-1 is a five-quadrant ring above Ecuador's coast. It has its own gravity, weather, rituals, and ways of carrying the people who live there. These short transmissions are posted first on X and collected here.

Signal 006

Spin.

Terminus-1 is a seven mile city wrapped around a space-elevator tether, turning fast enough to make the decks feel like down. On a Vector court, send a ball far enough and it comes down left of where you aimed.

The first lesson is to aim wrong.

Ask Astrid, and she’ll tell you she throws straight. Watch her hand. The ball leaves a fraction right.

Gravity.

On Terminus-1, gravity has an address, waiting in the corner of every wrist-comm holo or Nexus overlay.

Deck 20 holds you lightly. Deck 92 catches Astrid's first step off the tram. She shortens the next and keeps moving.

The Colors.

Five colors run in the blood of the infected.

Gold sees it coming. Silver gets there first. Bronze carries what breaks. Green talks to the current. Black takes.

The Rule.

In SOLARA, power begins as a promise.

A cure to keep one name from becoming a grave. Then it starts asking for pieces of the person using it.

He drew the vial with the same care he'd once used to check her IV line.

Signal 001

Window.

Page one: Astrid Hawthorn crouches at a viewport above Earth, drawing a sailboat on the glass.

The Big Dipper. The Little Dipper. Mars ahead of the bow. Tiny figures on deck.

She erases one of them before she makes herself stand.
